What’s Not So Great about Grow Your Own Drugs: Easy Recipes for Natural Remedies and Beauty Fixes?
Coffee table book alike –If you are a fan of coffee table and the author, you will be fascinated with the layout of the book. Although the content is helpful, it does not serve its purpose. The texts are minimal and there is less step by step recipe in the book. The recipes are few and it does not have an in-depth guide or an explanatory notes about it.
Just an important note, the pictures of the author are pleasant to the eyes but this is not the content you want inside the book.
No verified cure – Plants are known to have medicinal properties and these are discussed in the book. However, Wong was not able to back up it whether the cures are effective or not. Although it is already implied in the title, some explanations and proofs are lacking in the content.
Uncertainty in suggestions – The author has a disclaimer, “ask your physician first,” in some of his suggestions. Also, he had some precautions for the readers. For example,he wrote that some recipes are not suitable for pregnant women or a skin test is necessary before using it. The disclaimer indicates that there are some suggestions that are not tested for human consumption.
Is the Grow Your Own Drugs: Easy Recipes for Natural Remedies and Beauty Fixes a Great Purchase?
In a general point of view, Grow Your Own Drugs is a great purchase. It’s a good reference if you’re a beginner. When it comes to the issue of disclaimer and uncertainty in suggestions, it must be perceived as the author’s warning because he knows that not all plants and remedies will fit everybody’s needs. He only states that the reader must be able to do testing before he consume or apply the medication. It is similar to other products sold in the market that skin testing is necessary to avoid allergies and other complications.
