There are a number of medications that are available to help treat rosacea. Some are topical like azelaic acid and benzoyl peroxide, while many of the others are taken orally. Often times, doctors will prescribe both the topical and oral treatments to be used at the same time to increase their effectiveness. In some very severe case however, they may even prescribe steroidal treatments to help shrink some of the blood vessels that have become too thick to heal on their own.

In order to keep your case of rosacea from getting too bad, there are a few things that you might want to think about.
- Replace traditional razors for electric razors as they are less likely to irritate the skin.
- Keep out of the sun for prolonged periods. You skin can easily become irritated.
- When it’s cold outside, be sure to wear some sort of protection like a ski mask.
- Use moisturizer when needed to keep the skin healthy.
- Don’t use any products that can block pores in the skin.
- Don’t drink any alcoholic drinks.
- Avoid spicy foods.
